Electrical Technology is a major department of Pak Polytechnic Institute, Lahore, conducting eighteen sections of classes with strength of fifty students per class in both first and second shift. The department faculty is highly experienced, qualified, and trained while its laboratories are equipped with all the necessary equipment, machines, instruments and related material.
Electricity is a form of energy that is flexible and versatile and can be transformed from one place to another easily, economically, and efficiently. Electricity is mostly used in homes & industry for heating, lighting, driving motors, and other electromechanical devices. Electrical discipline may be broadly divided into:
- Generation
- Transmission
- Distribution
- Installation & Utilization of electrical energy
Various type of equipment, machines, devices, instruments and appliances form part of this electrical field to benefit humanity by making their lives easier and converting luxuries into day to day necessities. The Electrical Diploma Holder is called Electrical Technician or a Sub-Engineer. A sub-engineer works as a bridge between an engineer and skilled workers. He took directions from the engineer and conveys to skilled workers and supervises for proper and timely implementation & execution.
In Pakistan, Diploma of Associate Engineering (D.A.E) enrolls students after they complete their matriculation in science group. The duration of this diploma is three years. After completion of D.A.E a student can further improve his qualification in disciplines like B-Tech or B. Sc/B.E (Engineering). The diploma holders are currently employed by WAPDA, PTCL, PIA Aviation, SPARCO, PCSIR, Atomic Energy, Armed Forces and many factories & Industries.
